Its origin has been the subject  of debate but the triskel often represents the three constitutive  elements of life: air, water and fire. It could also represent the three  personalities of the Celtic pantheon: Lugh, Daghda (Taran) and Ogme. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div><p>Dependent on\nthe British crown, the Isle of Man is not part of the United Kingdom. The last native speaker of Manx, Ned Maddrell, died in 1974. However,\nit is spoken as a second language by many thousands of Manx people. In spite of\nan important number of Britons installing a strong Anglicism, the Manx embarked\non a campaign to reclaim their culture, notably music and dance, taught as\nextracurricular activities in schools.<\/p><p>As with the Faroe Islands, the Isle of Man benefits\nfrom a special regime which allows them to not be part of the European Union.\nThe Manx pound is the money in circulation and the vigorous tax regime allows\nbusinesses to benefit from substantial advantages. In 1275, wishing to reinforce the\nauthority of the Sudreyar, the island\u2019s royal family of Norwegian origin, the\nManx opposed the Scottish army, who were attempting to take control. During the\nBattle of Ronaldsway, the two groups clashed. The Scots won, which led to the\ndeath of King Godfred Magnusson and the flight of his court to Norway. Situated a little more\nthan 50&nbsp;km from Ireland, Scotland and England, it benefits from an oceanic\nclimate which allows varied vegetation to be grown there: forests and pastures\nare interspersed. Its highest point, Sniall in Manx, Snaefell in English,\nreaches 621m.
